The first sod has been turned at the new Department of Communities’ Brabham land estate where Perron Group has teamed up with Peet Limited as joint Development Managers.
Perron Group Managing Director, Ross Robertson was joined by Minister for Housing Peter Tinley, Department of Communities Director Business Development Nigel Hindmarsh and Peet Chief Executive Officer Brendon Gore for the turning of the sod.
Mr Robertson said that the Brabham development, nestled on the fringe of the Swan Valley and adjacent to Whiteman Park, was a long-term project that is expected to eventually yield around 3,000 homes on 2,600 residential lots.
“Stage one of the Brabham development will see about 600 lots scheduled for release in 2020 and future planning is set to include new schools, a retail precinct and recreational parks as well as a diverse range of housing and land opportunities,” said Mr Robertson.
A significant benefit of the Brabham development will also be its close proximity to the future METRONET Whiteman Park Station on the new Ellenbrook line which, when complete, will link the Swan Valley to Perth and mean a 25-minute train ride for commuters into the Perth CBD.
Mr Robertson said that Brabham will see a thriving future community built around sustainability and innovation.
“When complete, the development aims to be a six star world leading green-star community, with the focus on achieving innovative and sustainable solutions for energy, non-drinking water supply and built form design.
The vision for Brabham is that all residents will be within 400 metres of a park with more than 22 hectares dedicated to public open space, including green walking paths and nature trails.
“The area surrounding St Leonard’s Creek is a natural asset which in time is planned to consist of parklands and natural bushland, providing both active and passive recreational opportunities for future residents.
“Brabham is set to offer affordable housing in a thriving and connected community that enhances the lifestyles of its residents and adds to the vibrancy of the entire region,” Mr Robertson said.
