Investments and
Royalties

Perron Group’s Investments and Royalties portfolio comprises a diversified mix of listed equities, private equity and infrastructure assets, providing exposure across industries, geographies and investment horizons.

The portfolio is managed with a disciplined, long-term investment approach and includes both direct holdings and investments through leading global fund managers.

In addition to these investments, Perron Group benefits from an enduring stream of iron ore royalties linked to Western Australia’s Pilbara mining sector, arising from Stan Perron’s early support for iron ore exploration in the Hamersley Ranges in 1959.

Listed Equities

Perron Group invests in a diversified portfolio of Australian and global listed equities accessed through external investment managers with differing investment styles and approaches.

The portfolio provides exposure across developed markets, with a smaller allocation to emerging markets, supporting diversification and liquidity within the broader investment portfolio.

Private Equity

Private equity is a significant and expanding component of Perron Group’s investment portfolio, providing exposure to long-term investment opportunities across sectors and regions.

The program was established in 2021 as part of a long-term strategy to diversify Perron Group’s investment portfolio and enhance long-term returns.

Investments are made through leading global fund managers across a range of strategies, including buyouts, growth investments, co-investments and secondaries. These investments are typically made through funds with defined life cycles, allowing capital to be deployed, grown and realised over extended investment horizons.

As the program continues to mature, Perron Group intends to broaden its exposure and enhance diversification across sectors, regions and investment strategies.

Infrastructure Assets

Infrastructure investments provide exposure to essential, long-life assets that support economic activity and community services.

Perron Group holds direct interests in several Australian airports and indirect interests in infrastructure funds with exposure across Australia, North America and Europe. The underlying assets span transport infrastructure, utilities, energy networks, digital infrastructure and environmental services.

Iron Ore Royalties

Perron Group benefits from iron ore royalty interests arising from a landmark agreement entered into in 1959, when Stan Perron supported early iron ore exploration in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

That early support enabled the pegging of mining leases in the Hamersley Ranges by Lang Hancock and Peter Wright — an investment that has generated royalty income for more than six decades.

Today, Perron Group receives royalty payments from Rio Tinto, with annual income varying in line with iron ore production levels and market conditions.
